Recentering with Meditation

Today is the first day of my weekend, time to recharge. I often have too much going on in my head to make stationary meditation on breath and visualization effective. My meditation is most successful when I give my thoughts an outlet. Journaling is one way I let them out, moving meditations like needlecrafting is another way. I'm currently crocheting a new sweater for myself, and I can see my many thoughts and mental distractions manifested in the colors and patterns while I sit in calm peace and create. What forms of meditation help you re-center?
