Women's Heart Health Awareness Month

February is Women’s Heart Health Awareness Month and we’re all for spreading awareness about promoting heart health. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among every gender group and most racial/ethnic groups in the US - 1 out of 4 deaths each year in America are from cardiovascular disease*. So here are some tips to help raise your own personal awareness of heart health, because your beautiful heart deserves the love:

  • Get tested for risk factors for heart disease, eg. high blood pressure and high cholesterol

  • Learn CPR, helping to keep someone else’s heart pumping in an emergency may save their life

  • Get in at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity aerobic exercise each week - our classes can help with that ;)**

  • Eat a heart healthy diet of high fiber foods low in saturated/trans fats and cholesterol***. Check out some heart healthy recipes below. You can find more healthy eating information, including recipes at myplate.gov.
