Garlic Butter Baked Salmon

What habits are you trying to adopt?

As much as I love cooking, I've been STRUGGLING to get it in. Or at least I had been. Three weeks ago I made a way to incorporate cooking into my Sunday self-care.

First Creole Roast Duck, then Orange Chicken, now Garlic Butter Baked Salmon. They are all delicious and I will absolutely share the recipes with you, starting with that Garlic Butter Baked salmon recipe from Cafe Delites. It came out so yummy with the perfect little crunch on top of the salmon. I made mine with sweet potatoes instead of the Yukon golds. Simply delightful! Lemme know if you try it!

I wanted to believe the misinterpretations of Dr. Maxwell Maltz's work on self image that say it takes 21 consecutive days to set a habit. I'm learning more and more though, there is no magic number of days. It takes actively choosing what you want most every time you have the option.

It doesn't really get easier either. I have to remind me each time how much I want this for me. Sometimes, at 12am I'm just firing up the oven, really wanting sleep but wanting more to commit to this moment. Will I die if I don't? No, but at 2am, when the delicious meal has been made and parceled into containers, dishes cleaned, floor swept, and stove wiped, I sleep knowing I just got everything I wanted not just half, and in doing so, I set me up for nutritional success for the week.

What habits are you trying to adopt? What motivation helps you continue choosing it over the other options every time?
