Cozy Corners: Craft Edition

This is an in-person workshop with an option to attend virtually. Location: The Center (208 W. 13th Street, NYC) - we’ll be in their outdoor garden space. Supplies can be mailed to virtual attendees with at least 3 days advance registration.

Our Cozy Corners invite you to connect and indulge in all the ways you treat yourself outside of fitness. Join us for our needle-crafting edition on Thurs. June 12 at 6:00pm. Learn to crochet with a quick lesson in the basic stitches that will guide you in finishing your very first project, or bring your own knit/crochet/needlecraft work in progress and enjoy good company, and yums, while you craft away!

Admission: $36 for those participating in the lesson, $18 for those bringing their own project to work on.

Included in admission:

  • [For those participating in the lesson] Crochet lesson working on our seasonal project together (included supplies and finished project are yours to keep)

  • [For those participating in the lesson] complimentary needlework patterns

  • A second separate virtual session to connect on progress or problems while working

  • Varied light yums (think tea or small snacks)

What is crochet and knitting?

Both are fiber arts that weave yarn into fabric. Crochet involves interlocking loops together with one hook to create a fabric. Knitting involves weaving loops together using 2 pointed needles to create a fabric.

What are the benefits of knitting and crocheting?

  • Helps calm anxiety, relieve stress, and reduce depression by focusing the brain on coordinated, rhythmic, repetitive hand movements. This article shares more about the effects of needle-crafting on mental health.

  • Provides an outlet for creativity that builds self-esteem and yields unique clothes, housewares, art, toys, jewelry, etc. for self or as gifts for others
