2020 12 Days of Fitness

2020 was a rough year and we made it through to the end. Celebrate your strength and join us for our 12 Days of Fitness starting Sunday, 12/20. This is a personal challenge to help you give yourself a little TLC during the last days of the year so that you start your 2021 energized, strong, stable, and feeling ready to handle whatever is coming your way.

The Challenge: For the 12 days before the new year (from 12/20-12/31) take at least 30 minutes each day (with the exception of two recovery days if needed) for self-care. We'll be posting exercise ideas, classes, events, and opportunities throughout the month on our social media sites with the hashtag #TalithaDance12DaysofFitness so you can plan a balanced 12 day routine. Here on our event page, we'll also share some workout sessions, meditation workshops, and other fitness and wellness resources for you (see below). We’ll be adding to the list until the end of the year so be sure to check back in for new info.

To Participate: This is a personal challenge to build a balanced wellness routine that works for you using the resources we share or your own mix of favorite fitness ideas, which can include mental exercise such as meditation classes and gentle physical workouts such as stretching and walking. There is no one keeping tabs but you, so if you need help committing to exercise or you need an accountability buddy, you can join our Facebook group Talitha Dance Party Animals and share photos as you complete your me-time session with the hashtag #TalithaDance12DaysofFitness. You can share any info for classes you attended, sweaty selfies, or pics of your workout set up for the day. Whether you do it with your quarantine buddies or solo, here’s your chance to practice keeping promises to yourself and bring in 2021 making yourself a priority.

Free outdoor in-person Zumba classes in Prospect Park: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays with Michael Aredes (classes move online in the event of inclement weather).

Livestream Yoga and meditation various days/times: $11 Yoga and Meditation classes with Meeks

Livestream Yoga Fridays 7:30AM: offered for free by Well Bath (in the UK)

Livestream Aerobics Wednesdays 7:30PM EST: Free aerobics classes (<-this is the zoom link to class. Passcode: cardio) with Sherri

Livestream Pilates Wednesdays and Fridays 8AM: suggested donation $5-$20 with Julie Briggs Wednesdays and Fridays 8AM. Email her at briggs.julie@gmail.com to register.

At home exercises to try: Be sure to put together a sequence that lasts at least 30 minutes including a warm up and cool down!
